Engineering & Design

VAS supports our clients’ missions by providing highly qualified professional subject matter experts (SMEs) of various engineering disciplines. We focus on engineering and design processes for complex and unique solutions for our federal, state, and commercial nuclear clients.

Our Engineers and SMEs review, assess, and resolve issues during the early project design stages to help reduce design conflicts and avoid costly project overruns. We specialize in hard-to-fill positions and high-demand individuals with a demonstrated strong performance record. VAS engineers and experts can support the preparation of various project deliverables, including schematics and process flow diagrams (PFD); piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID); equipment layouts and general arrangement drawings; 3D mechanical assembly models and drawings; structural, thermal, hydraulic, and electromagnetic analysis; design analysis and calculation reports, engineering product specifications, assembly and operations procedures, safety and hazard analysis, design verification reports, and Intergraph plant design (PDS).

Project Management & Controls​

VAS supplies project management and control services. We have expertise in project management and experience providing project control functions to our federal, state, and commercial nuclear clients. VAS will assist our clients in all project stages, from inception to completion.

Our Project Managers (PMs) assume responsibility for the safe and successful completion of projects within scope and schedule by using their mastery of scheduling, budgeting, and cost accounting techniques as well as their working knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction processes.  They provide periodic and timely guidance to the project sponsor, workforce, and other stakeholders throughout a project’s life cycle.

VAS assists our clients with Project Controls Management by achieving defined cost, schedule, and technical objectives.  Our expertise includes Earned Value Management System (EVMS) consulting, Planning/Scheduling (P6 Primavera, MS Project), cost management tracking (Cobra), earned value analysis, cost estimation, project execution, and project reporting.

Waste & Environmental Management

Waste & Environmental Management

VAS provides waste and environmental management (EM) services to support our client’s EM programs that protect the local area’s environment and population health. Our environmental services include procedures, regulatory compliance, audits, hazardous materials management, pollution control, and training.

Our waste management team ensures waste is accurately characterized so that disposed of materials comply with all regulations, including the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Administratively, VAS completes the documentation and record-keeping required by DOE under various regulations.

Waste Management
VAS provides waste management planning, waste profiling, radiological and chemical characterization, packaging, transportation, container inspections, preparation and review of shipping and support documentation, and oversight of loading operations and shipping schedules. VAS can define packaging requirements, develop procedures, perform management assessments, provide field implementation, regulatory compliance oversight, and support.  Administratively, VAS completes the documentation and record-keeping required by DOE under various regulations and special records under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) that governs the disposal of solid and hazardous waste, and CERCLA, administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for sites under the Federal Superfund Law.

Environmental Management
VAS has experience in industrial and government worksites and a background focused on environmental, safety, and engineering activities.  With diverse experience, VAS personnel provide environmental services to our industrial and government clients in the areas of regulatory compliance, environmental audits, Hazardous Materials Management, and air/water pollution control under the federal Clean Air Act (CAA) and Clean Water Act (CWA). VAS can help ensure that all chemicals on a site comply with the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) and have positive certification; this includes Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), Asbestos, lead, mercury, formaldehyde, and certain Hexavalent Chromium compounds. The VAS team of environmental and compliance experts and engineers can assist with managing or remediation and closure of existing Underground Storage Tanks (USTs). VAS can aid in developing Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, permit preparation, oversight and field support, and alternative analyses.  Environmental Management System (EMS) integration, including procedures and processes for training, monitoring, summarizing, and environmental performance reporting, is part of the VAS skillset.

Quality Assurance​

VAS provides Quality Assurance (QA) consulting services to aid clients in developing and implementing quality assurance procedures, plans, and specifications using the proper national or international standards. VAS supports clients’ existing QA programs through external assessment, corrective action planning, and evaluation.

VAS is capable of supporting your new or existing Quality Assurance program in several ways.  We provide off-site vendor fabrication and shop surveillance. We can refine your messaging with documentation review for technical bids/proposals, statements of work, and contract submittals. For construction projects, we provide civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering quality oversight. VAS consultants offer crucial corrective action support including reviewing codes, standards, and regulations for impact on existing procedures and specifications. Our consultants will make recommendations to issue or revise procedures to achieve conformance. We also offer vendor QC inspections by Certified Welding Inspectors, Mechanical SMEs, and Electrical SMEs

Construction Management

The VAS construction management team ensures that project and maintenance activities are completed for the customer safely, on schedule, within budget, and at the proper quality level through a demonstrated ability to develop and evaluate construction strategies and techniques. Our team wields an extensive knowledge of national codes, standards, and environmental regulations related to construction projects and tasks.

Our construction managers ensure that resources execute the assigned scope safely, securely, and cost-effectively by following performance and quality baselines. VAS can provide construction support staff to aid our clients with design reviews, contract reviews, change order analysis, cost estimates, cost evaluations, labor relations, construction scheduling, earned value management, inspections, quality assurance, and productivity analysis.

Environmental Safety & Health

VAS helps our clients take steps toward protecting our environment by preventing pollution, minimizing impact, and complying with applicable requirements. Radiological Controls
Value Added Solutions, Inc. supplies radiological control services to ensure compliance with Occupational Radiation Protection (10CFR835). We supply Radiological Control Technician (RCT) support for research, maintenance, and demolition, as well as disposal activities for construction D&D and remediation projects. Our ANSI 3.1 qualified RCTs and certified health physicists will evaluate the effects and impacts on the environment and human health through assessments, characterization, remediation, and disposal.

Accounting & Finance
We provide accounting and finance support following Generally Acceptable Accounting Procedures (GAAP) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) accounting standards.
